Hostel Life

Hostel

Uduvil Girls’ College prides herself in being the first girls’ Boarding School in Asia. The girls hail mostly from out of the Jaffna district. Some are even from other provinces. The girls in the hostel play an active role in the life of the school, taking part in the various extra-curricular activities. They have schedules times of study, games, sing song and prayers in the chapel. Boarders Union, a fortnightly event, brings out the talent of the students. Boarders’ Day competitions are generally held annually.

Admission to the hostel is open for girls Grade 6 upwards.

 

Computer labs

The school boasts of two computer labs-one in the Susan Howland Block(for primary students) and the other in Sarasvathy Somasundaram block(for  secondary school). ICT is taught as a subject in both O level and A Level n Tamil and English media and computing is taught from grade 1.

 

Science laboratories

The science laboratories are located in the Harriett Winslow Memorial Block. There are separate Physics, Chemistry and Biology labs. The labs recently obtained new chemicals and equipment, thanks to the kind donation of Past Pupils’ Association of Sydney.

 

Sports facilities

The school has a basketball court, netball court and table tennis tables.
